What Florida requires
Florida requires vehicles with a current Florida registration to carry Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Property Damage Liability (PDL), each with a $10,000 minimum, and to keep that coverage in place continuously.
Those are the state's minimums, not a full picture of your risk. Higher limits and other coverages, like bodily injury liability, are worth discussing. Rules can change, so we confirm current requirements when we quote.
Coverages worth understanding
- Liability: pays for harm you cause to other people and their property.
- Personal Injury Protection (PIP): helps pay medical costs and part of lost income after a covered accident, regardless of fault. The exact benefits and who is covered depend on the policy and Florida rules.
- Collision: repairs your car after a crash with another vehicle or object.
- Comprehensive: covers things like theft, vandalism and storm damage.
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist: helps when the other driver has little or no insurance.
What shapes your quote
Your driving history, the vehicle, where it's kept, the limits and deductibles you choose, and your insurance history all play a part. Each company sets its own rates, so we can't predict what you'll be offered. We can show you how different choices change the picture.
